Paul McCartney meets Ricky Nelson and Jerry Lee Lewis as only my 6th grade one man band can do. Brand New 6/2/2007. Now featuring Tammy Lee Swindell on piano and my keys on the high parts. Thanks Tammy. New mix 7/31/07. 2nd #1 song after Sororit
A standard Blues progression. Just like a zillion other songs. Came up with the main melody and the Why do you Lie and had no words in between and then I got thinking about Mary Lou as I was hearing rockabilly/Jerry Lee Lewis in my head and of course never far from my music memory is Sir Paul and I was thinking of Get out of My way so there it was Adios Mary Lou even though I never say those words in the song. But she does get the boot in the end.
ADIOS MARY LOU
Words and Music Tony DeLecce 5/2007
Going downtown on a Saturday Night
Looking for some trouble, I was looking for a fight
One look from her and she really changed my mind
Hello how are you
She said my name is Mary Lou
and I’ve been looking for someone just like you.
Well it’s alright if we sit for awhile
But I cant stay she said with a smile
That doesn’t mean theres somewhere else I’d Rather be
Bridge
Girl, Why do you lie to me
Girl, why do you lie to me.
Don’t know where I’m going and I don’t know what to do
But I know what I want and what I want is Mary Lou
and no other girl in this world will ever do.
Hello how are you
She said I’m not Mary Lou
But Ive been looking for someone just like you
Well its alright if we talk for awhile
Cause Ive got all night she said with a smile
And there’s no other place in this world I’d rather be
Girl Please don’t you lie to me
Girl Please don’t you lie to me
