A total made up story. I am in the first person because 'He' did not sound so good. LOL! A new song from my one man band expanded by my Daughter Tara playing Lead Guitar. Me on the verse fills hers would be better. LOL! NEW Mix 1/4/2009.

Story behind the song
Just another rocker. A common story. Guy is leaving town cant take the crap in his life. Picks up a hitchhiker. They get together and unfortunately as so often in life his problems he had before follow him to his new life. The girl is running away as well and gets sucked into the same old situation.

Hitting the Highway Words/Music Tony DeLecce 9/21//2008 Driving down the Highway I was looking for some fun When I looked beside me up came her thumb She said I’m hitting the highway I’m California Bound I’m leaving this morning Gotta get out of town CHORUS She can’t remember The life they shared together Seems like it was only a dream She can’t stay Cause he’ll never change She’s leaving her problems behind I was here and she was there and I was going nowhere I was lost when I found her Now we’re leaving together We’re hitting the highway We’re California Bound We’re leaving this morning To be the new kids in town CHORUS I can’t remember The life I had before her Seems like it was just a bad dream Chords: Verse: A, G, C, D, A I can’t stay There’s too much pain Chorus1: A, G, D A In the life Chorus: Dm, Em, Am C I was living without her Dm, Em, C Middle Lead I’m drinking in the morning I’ve been drinking all night long (All Barre Chords) I’m wondering why I came here and why she came along I’m hitting the highway Gonna leave this California town I’m leaving in the morning I don’t want to bring her down Running on empty, feeling ashamed I have no one left to blame I cant stay cause I’ll never change Girl I know your feeling the same
